Ashraff fought a democratic and unarmed battle to safeguard the rights of Muslims in the East, President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said yesterday,addressing a ceremony at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institution to coincide with the launch of the book Mamada Obama Vemi, the Sinhala translation of Minister Ashraff's poetry book.
