Baseless allegations against PMSD says UNP

United National Party Media Spokesman Gayantha Karunatilleke in a press release yesterday described the allegation made by the JVP against the Prime Minister's Security Division (PMSD) and the UNP regarding the recent attack on several JVP branches as totally baseless.

This is proved by the fact that JVP Propaganda Secretary Wimal Weerawansa remained silent when Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe denied this allegation as completely false when Mr. Weerawansa made a statement in Parliament accusing the PMs Security Division and the UNP of complicity in these attacks.

The statement said that when students of the Sri Jayawardenapura University themselves accused the JVP of complicity in the killing of student Ovitigala Vithanage Samantha the JVP called for investigations into the murder without accusing them for the tragedy.

But now when JVP branch offices are attacked the JVP is accusing its political foes without calling for an investigations. This clearly proves JVP's policy of double standards, it said.
