Senior journalists of five leading Japanese newspaper organizations breakfasted with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday. Noboru Nagaoka, Editorial writer of Ashahi Shimbun, Yoshiaki Ito, Editor of Mainichi Shimbun Toshihiro Nathanshi, Senior Staff Writer of Nihon Keisai Shimbun, Hajim Okasi of Kaido Newspaper Agency and Kichro Harano, Managing Editor of Yomiyuri Shimbun were gathered for this meeting held at Imperial Hotel, Tokyo. Yasushi Akashi, Special Representative of the Japanese Government was also present at this meeting. Prime Minister Wickremesinghe had a lengthy discussion on Sri Lankan and international political trends with these Japanese journalists. The role, the Japanese media is expected to play in granting Japanese aid for peace process in Sri Lanka and "Regaining Sri Lanka" was another important point taken for discussion at this occasion, states a press release issued by the Prime Minister's office. |
