Memon SC celebrate a decade of cricket Memon SC will celebrate their tenth year by returning to division III cricket after a lapse of two years. Founded in 1962, they have been successfully participating in the division III tournament conducted by the Colombo DCA, but for the past two season they could not participate for financial reasons. "After unsuccessful attempts to gain financial support from the Memon Association of Sri Lanka, we decided to publish a souvenir and collect some funds to enable us to take part in the 2002-03 season," said souvenir chairman Sulaiman Yoosuf. Memon SC will be captained by Mohamed Athiq and open their season with a match against United SC at the Airforce grounds, Rifle Green on December 8. They will then play Kaduwela SC on December 19 and Nugegoda SC on December 22, both matches at the same venue. A match against Past Memons XI has been arranged for January 5. |
