Reconstruction of Jaffna-Kandy A9 highway : RDA, private contractors sign agreements

Agreements were signed on Monday between the Road Development Authority and eight private contractors to reconstruct the Jaffna-Kandy A9 highway which had been the battling ground for the Security Forces and the LTTE for several years.

Inquiry ordered into alleged ragging incident

Army Commander Lt. General Lionel Balagalle has directed Major General K.D. Egodawela, to inquire into the alleged ragging incident at the Muhamalai Forward Defence Line which resulted in the death of a Lance Corporal and sustaining of severe injuries to six others.
