The PA Ex-Co meeting is expected to meet at the President's House. President Chandrika Kumaratunga is reported to have decided to summon the "Ex-Co" on a request by certain PA groups sceptical about the recent talks between the JVP and the PA aimed at forming an alliance. The Sri Lanka Samasamaja Party (LSSP) and the Communist Party (CP) will call for a positive approach towards the peace process while engaging in constructive criticism contrary to the JVP's vehement opposition to the peace effort, sources said. President Kumaratunga on Monday met JVP Propaganda Secretary, Wimal Weerawansa and MP, Anura Dissanayake to discuss forming a common front. SLFP sources however said no decision has yet been reached on a coalition with the JVP adding that the talks were focused on working out a common stance on the peace process. "The President and the SLFP will decide on the modalities, if a coalition is built with the JVP," the sources said, ruling out the possibility that it would weaken the PA. |
