Foreign direct investments double in 2002

Finance Minister K. N. Choksy yesterday told Parliament that foreign direct investment in the country had increased considerably in the last few months, with the year 2002 seeing a doubling of the inflow for 2001.

Lanka calls on Iraq to comply

The government of Sri Lanka last night called on Iraq to fully comply with the UN Resolution regarding weapons inspection in that country.

More UK aid to Lanka

The United Kingdom's development assistance to Sri Lanka will be 15 million Sterling Pounds this year and 20 million Sterling Pounds next year, making the UK the second largest bilateral donor, visiting British Foreign Office Minister Mike O' Brien, who is expected in Colombo today, said in a statement.
