Buddhasana, Justice, Law Reform and National Integration Minister W.J.M. Lokubandara commended members of the Judicial service for their dedicated service solve legal disputes among citizens through independent and fair judgements. The Minister offered this bouquet to the judicial service when he opened the new Magistrate Court complex at Pelmadulla recently. Lokubandara said Pelmadulla was earlier served by a circuit Magistrate Court which functioned once a week. The new permanent magistrate court would be a boon to litigants in Nivithigala, Rakwana, Kolonna and Pelmadulla areas who earlier had to go at to Balangoda to seek solution to their legal problems. The Minister who promised to meet all stationery and other needs of the new court complex, said the efficient functioning of the court would strengthen the honour and dignity of the Judiciary and the bar. Pelmadulla new Magistrate Nandanie Abeygunasekera thanked the Minister for declaring Pelmadulla as a separate judicial area and requested him to meet the stationery, furniture and other needs of the court urgently to ensure its efficient functioning. Smallholder Development Minister Susantha Punchinilame also spoke. Members of the Balangoda and Pelmadulla Bar Association led by Provincial council member Sarath Wijegunawardena were also present. |
