Milinda in dialogue with Jaffna public

by Jayasiri Munasinghe

Economic Reforms, Science and Technology Minister Milinda Moragoda toured Jaffna on Sunday to evaluate the relief measures enjoyed by the people of the North by the MoU signed between the government and the LTTE on its first anniversary.

The minister discussed the measures that should be taken in the future to uplift the economic and social status of the people in the peninsula with the public.

The aim of the tour was to draw an action plan to protect the ways of living and to upgrade their economic and social conditions, those living in islands including Delft.

The Minister said attention would be given to the problems faced by the island dwellers in order to seek solutions at the next round of peace talks to be held in Japan.

Before touring Jaffna minister Moragoda attended the religious ceremonies held at several places to mark the first anniversary of the MoU on Saturday.

Defence Secretary Austin Fernando, commanders of the three forces and several higher police officers too joined the minister.
