"Amazing World" can be described as a fully illustrated encyclopedia, travelogue or window on a world of wonders. It is of great educational value to the young and the young-at-heart. The graphic styles, bilingual text and the unique design concept of Amazing World are all the original ideas of Susantha Fernando. The Sri Lanka Edition of Amazing World, now selling in the local market, maintains the same quality standards.

An additional source of information
Pharmacy is a welcome addition to the general readership and has fulfilled a long felt need in the reading sphere. Foreign publications in general which are foudn in bookships are very expensive and is almost beyond reach of the Sri Lankan reader. Presented in simple language along with brand names and illnesses the drugs prescribed for are listed in detail which can be easily understood by even the laymen who are not familiar with medical jargon. This book is particularly useful for pharmacists preparing for pharmacy examinations and also for other para-medical personnel. It has also to be stated that this book is in no way a substitute for standard pharmacopoeia or textbooks on pharmacy and dispensing. Yet it could be useful as an additional source of information in preparing and dispensing simple medicines as claimed by the author himself. Pharmacy contains additional information such as Electrolyte Solutions, Plasma substitutes, essential drugs, sample papers in pharmacology and routes of administrators of drugs. The 2002 edition of the book has been completely revised and all
information relating to pharmacy are presented in a nutshell. Ranjith
Seneviratne, the author, is a qualified pharmacist with wide ranging
working experience in Sri Lanka and abroad in various capacities and
organisations. Reasonably priced the book is available in local bookshops. **************************************** Interesting short
stories `Andayage Ketikatha' (Short stories of the blind) `Andayage Ketikatha' (The short stories of a visually handicapped person), a collection of short stories authored by Amarasinghe Sumathipala consists of six interesting short stories. All the stories are connected to one blind person. All the stories in the book based on a visually handicapped elder who was chased away by the society due to a misunderstanding. The author successfully tells the blind person's real story and his desire to be friendly with the common society and little children. The author has kept this blind person's role alive from the beginning to the end of the book. This stratagem holds the reader's curiosity till the end of the book. -
