Milinda meets Jayalalitha

Minister for Economic Reforms, Science and Technology Milinda Moragoda met state minister of Tamilnadu Mrs. J. Jayalalitha at her office on 26 evening. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe met Mrs. Jayalalitha in June last year and realised the importance of strengthening bi-lateral relations with Indian government as well as state of Tamilnadu. The two ministers exchanged their views regarding the peace process in Sri Lanka at this meeting. The minister revealed the Sri Lankan attempt to bring a solution for both the parties by having discussions throughout the last year. Mrs. Jayalalitha has explained their experience in strengthening women power in the state of Tamilnadu and discussed how it could be applied to upgrade the living standards of Sri Lankan women. An agreement was made to arrange a visit for a group of Sri Lankan women to study about this programme. Discussions were carried out to implement strategies beneficial for both the countries considering the similarities social and economic culture between Tamilnadu and Sri Lanka. The importance of continuing these discussions were also stated, Sumith Nakandala the High Commissioner of High Commissioners office at Chennai was also present for this meeting, states an Economic Reform, Science and Technology ministry press release.
