Premier league soccer clubs to meet

Representatives from all participating clubs in the Premier League Soccer Championships will meet at Royal Oceanic Hotel tomorrow at 7.00 p.m. according to convenor Ranjith Rodrigo, President Negombo Youth SC and Treasurer Football Federation of Sri Lanka.

According to Rodrigo this meeting is convened to discuss the possibilities of cutting down expenses that the clubs have to incur during this tourney.

He says that the tournament which is competed by 14 leading teams in the country takes near by nine months to complete. This is considered to be too long by clubs, for which they have to spend lot of money.

Due to various reasons that prop up during the period, matches have to be postponed, this lengthens the period further he said.

These factors have to be sorted out by the clubs, a meeting of this nature and their proposals would be forwarded to the FFSL for its considerations, he said.

Rodrigo also pointed out that he has got the green light from FFSL to conduct this meeting and added that various other matters too will be discussed at length on this meeting. He requests the participating clubs to send three representatives preferably President, Secretary and another official for the meeting.
