US in first major clash with Republican Guard KUWAIT CITY, Monday (AFP) US commanders reported their first serious
battle with Iraq's elite Republican Guard Monday as British commandos
launched a major assault on the southern port city of Basra. Peace process to continue without pause - President President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga yesterday told the Colombo
based diplomatic community that as Head of State she would give them the
assurance that whoever may be the government of the day, the peace process
