Five new schools for under 17 division two tourney

by Chris Dhambarage

Five new schools are set to make their debut at the Milo under 17 division two ten a side rugby tournament which will be worked off this week in Colombo.

Altogether a total of fourteen teams will compete in this tournament which is organised and conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Limited.

Piliyandala Central who are making their first appearance in this tournament have been drawn into the top half along with Kegalu MV, Rajapaksa MV Ahungalla and S. Thomas' Bandarawela.

This will be a real test for the new schools who will be vying for honours in the Cup, Plate and Bowl championship respectively.

Two more new schools Bandaranayake MV Gampaha and C. W. W. Kannangara MV Borella have been included in group 'B' together with Eheliyagoda Central. With only three teams competing in this group there is a Real chance that one of these new schools would make it to the quarter-finals of the Cup championship. In fact Eheliyagoda Central too came into the scene a couple of years ago and they too will be making a determined effort to justify their inclusion in this tournament.

Kalutara Maha Vidyalaya will also make their first appearance in this tournament and will battle it out in group 'C' along with Seethawaka MV and Lalith Athulathmudali MV Ratmalana. Incidentally both Seethawaka MV and Lalith Athulathmudali MV are also new to the scene and this could be a good opportunity for them to display their potential.

Completing the line up in the bottom half will be Moratu MV, Embilipitiya MV and Narawelpita MV from Matara. In fact Narawelpita MV is another new team who are making their debut in this tournament.
