CEAT launches new premium tyre for trishaws Top tyre maker CEAT has launched a revolutionary new tyre for one of Sri Lanka's most popular forms of transport - the ubiquitous trishaw. The company, which is already the biggest player in this segment of the market, said its new "Fleet Master" tyre for three-wheelers is tougher, safer and longer-lasting than others in the market. A new tread width of 87 millimetres (as opposed to the standard 80 mm) provides a wider footprint that, together with an attractive new tread pattern translates to better road grip, a key to safety on the road, the company said. The tyre is also larger in diameter (424 mm instead of 410 mm) which means it requires less revolutions than a standard tyre to cover the same distance, resulting is less wearing and longer life. A spokesman for CEAT said the new tyre has been built stronger and heavier with a high quality tread compound, enabling it to carry a heavier load than the vehicle is designed for. "We have over-engineered the new Fleet Master tyre after a realistic assessment of the conditions it will be used under," he said. "This is consistent with CEAT's policy of providing value-for-money through quality that is consistently above industry standards", he said. He said CEAT three-wheeler tyres had achieved market leader status even before the launch of the new tyre with annual sales of about 160,000 tyres, accounting for 55 per cent of the market. The new tyre would enhance choice to customers with superior features that would cost just 10 per cent more. CEAT manufactures and markets an extensive range of commercial and industrial tyres, including tyres for light trucks, trucks, buses, forklifts and heavy vehicles such as payloaders, graders and backhoe loaders. |
