CII 'Made in India Show' to promote bilateral trade Over 100 Indian companies across diverse sectors of the Indian Industry will display their latest technologies in the "Made in India Show", organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), from today till May 31 at the Convention and Exhibition Centre BMICH. Supported by the High Commission of India, Sri Lanka, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Industries of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Affairs of India the objective of the event is to increase bilateral trade between India and Sri Lanka and to promote joint ventures and investment into Sri Lanka. Apart from showcasing the best of Indian companies, the show will also promote export of Indian capital goods and services to Sri Lanka through the line of credit of US$ 100 million extended by the Government of India. In order to create tremendous opportunities for development of economic relations, CII is mounting a CEOs Mission to Sri Lanka, coinciding with the show. A conference on "WTO, Corporate Governance and Building Partnership in IT" is also planned during the show. Sri Lanka is ranked as one of the most liberalised economies in South Asia. Investors are provided with preferential tax rates, constitutional guarantees on investment agreements, exemptions from exchange control and 100% repatriation of profits. Total foreign ownership is welcome in almost all areas of the economy, with only a few areas limited or restricted to foreigners. Close geographical and political proximity to India has made it one of India's largest trading partners. The five-days "Made in India" show, will include Indian companies representing sectors such as Agricultural Machinery/ Commodities, Construction Equipment, Drugs and Pharmaceuticals, Food Processing Machinery and Processed / Frozen Foods, Healthcare, Hotel Equipment, Housing / Building Material, Machinery for the Gems Industry, Petroleum and Petroleum Products, Power Equipment, Soaps & Detergents, Iron and Steel Products, Machine Toolsy, Earth Moving Equipment exhibiting at the show, as well as explore the possibilities for exports, imports, joint ventures, technology transfers and the Sub-contracting and Partnership arrangements. Ashok Leyland, ACMA, Bharat Earth Movers Ltd., EID Parry (India) Ltd. GAIL (India) Ltd., Godrej and Boyce Mfg. Co Ltd., HMT (International) Ltd., Hero Motors, Indian Hotels, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Kinetic Engineering, Kirloskar Electric Co and Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd., Punjab National Bank, TATA International Ltd., TELCO, TISCO, TATRA Udyog Ltd., Usha International, and Voltas Ltd., will participate. The" Made in India" show promises to provide ideal grounds for penetration into one of the most profitable markets in South Asia and would help formation of strategic and mutually beneficial business partnerships, the organisers said. |
