Susanthika looking for four golds Sunil Abhayawardena from Chennai Olympic Medallist Susanthika Jayasinghe who left the island yesterday to take part in the Asian Grand Prix Athletic Tournament commencing at Hyderabad, India, tomorrow, vowed to win four Gold Medals in all four events that she takes part. The Sri Lankan athletic team that included Damayanthi Darsha, Sriyani Kulawansa, Sugath Thilakaratne, Roshan Pradeep, Indika de Silva, Manjula Pushpakumara and J. H. M. Shiprath with the Sri Lankan team nanager Oliver Fernando took off from Katunayake Airport yesterday (26) at 8.15 a.m. to reach Chennai Airport at 9.35 a.m. They toured the Chennai City in an air conditioned bus and lodged at Amnsadar Paccava Hotel till they were to be flown to Hyderabad at 5.15 p.m. Other than the two young participants Manjula Pushpakumara and J. H. M. Shiprath, majority of others were equally optimistic about their chances against tough opposition and some of them vowed to win gold medals for Sri Lanka in the respective events that they compete. |
