Ananda has the edge over Joes by Chris Dhambarage The Milo 'B' division league table leaders Ananda College will be hoping to consolidate their position when they take on St. Joseph's College in their inter school rugby encounter at Longden Place today. The Anandians are well on course to win the title having maintained an unbeaten record so far in the tournament. They started the season with a bang overcoming the more fancied S. Thomas' team in their very first outing and from thereonwards they have really stuck to their task defeating Dharmaraja College Kandy, Thurstan and St. Sylvester's College Kandy. Even then the Anandians would like to win this game by a bigger margin and increase their total number of tries in the tournament. They are currently ahead by just three tries from their closest rivals Kingswood College who also have the identical playing record of three wins and a maximum of 12.00 points. St. Joseph's College of course had their dreams shattered last week following their first defeat of the tournament against Kingswood College Kandy. Now they only have an outside chance of winning the title but will be determined to stretch the strong Anandians with an improved performance. Meanwhile Prince of Wales College will take on Mahanama MV in an important Milo 'C' division league tournament fixture at Moratuwa today. The Cambrians have performed well in their previous outings and have two wins to their credit and are placed third in the latest points table. In addition D. S. Senanayake College will travel to Kurunegala for their Milo 'C' division league rugby tournament match against Maliyadeva College scheduled for today. |
