Some interesting stats of the Bradby shield by Deva Amunugama The 139th Trinity-Royal encounter and the 59th Bradby will be played for the 37th occasion at Bogambara stadium where Trinity has recorded 23 wins to that of 13 by Royal. Royal leads with the highest points scored in a single game 44 in 2002 and Trinity 32 in 2000. The highest points in both legs is Royal 83 to that of 32 by Trinity. From 1952 to 1957 Trinity has recorded 6 consecutive wins whilst Royal from 1978 to 1980 and from 1988 to 1990 recorded three consecutive wins. Trinity in 1945, '46, '62 and '72 has won the Bradby coming from behind losing the 1st leg and Royel has done this feat in 1979, 97 and 98. From 1953 to 1957 in 12 consecutive games Royal has failed to score in 10 games. Of the 115 Bradby games played Trinity has won 55 games, Royal 49, drawn 10 and a tie in one game. In 1984 Royal won the shield 6/3 and nil all with neither side crossing the line. The total points scored in this famous encounter Royal leads with 900 to that of 833 by Trinity. What feats would be performed in this year's Bradby is anybody's guess. |
