Leading Indian constitutional experts, Dr. Subhash Kashyap, former Secretary General of the Lok Sabha, Justice T. N. Kirpal, former Chief Justice of India, Prof. Balveer Arora, Rector, Jawaharlal Nehru University, K. K. Venugopal, Senior Advocate and A. N. Jayaram, Advocate General of Karnataka are now in Sri Lanka. They will be attending a 3-day seminar on "Indian Federalism" on 25th, 26th and 27th July 2003 at the BMICH. The event is organised by the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS), in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India and the India-Sri Lanka Foundation. At this seminar, the eminent Indian scholars will hold sessions on Historical Evolution of Federalism in India; Distribution of Legislative Powers between the Union and the States; Administrative Relations between the Union and the States; Economics of Federalism; Resource Management, Financial and Economic Relations; Overview of the Judicial System in Federal India; Problems of Constitutional Interpretation; Federalism, Pluralism and National Integration and the Question of Secession in a Federal Constitution. |
