NICs in one day

Interior and Christian Affairs Minister John Amaratunge will inaugurate the new scheme to issue National Identity Cards in one day at the Department of Registration of Persons at Head Office at Keppetipola Mawatha, Colombo today.

A fee of Rs. 500 will be charged from each person. The fee includes the photograph for the NIC which will be taken by the official photographer of the department.

The scheme is similar to the one operated by the Department of Immigration and Emigration for issue of passports in one day on a payment of special fee.
