The National Library and Documentation Services Board (NLDSB) is organising an exhibition of books and ICT library materials to mark the literary month. The exhibition will be held from September 2-7 at the National Library Exhibition Centre. The exhibition will be opened by Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku, Minister of Human Resource Development, Education and Cultural Affairs at 10 a.m. on September 2. Among the exhibits are popular and widely used software for library automation, audio visual and ICT library materials and services and information on national and international databanks and databases. The exhibition will also contain information on the role of libraries and information centres in e-governance, major library and information networks in Sri Lanka and Asia and major national and international organisations in the library field. A large number of books published in the recent past will also be displayed and made available at discount prices. At the inauguration ceremony books will be donated to 27 school and pirivena libraries in the districts of Galle, Matara and Ratnapura which were damaged to recent floods and earthslips. The value of the donation to each such institution will be Rs. 50,000. |
