'Gateway to South and South East Asia' business meeting in Sydney From Clifford Landers in Australia An informal 'Gateway to South and South East Asia' business meeting organised by the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Sydney with the assistance of the Executive Committee Business Council of Sri Lanka in Australia courtesy Richardson, Director of Austrade, Sydney will be held today, from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm at the Austrade office, Parramatta, Sydney. According to Wasantha Senanayake, Consul (Commercial) and Acting Consul General, the meeting is held to create an awareness of new trade and investment opportunities emerging in Sri Lanka "Especially after the peace process and launching of 'Regaining Sri Lanka' Program by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe recently", he said. Senanayake told the 'Daily News' that "Discussions will include an overview of services and facilities available in Sri Lanka and concessions under the Indo-Sri Lanka and Pakistan-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement". Among the gathering will be Senators Stephen Hutchins and Michael Forshaw, members of the Federal Parliament who visited Sri Lanka in the recent past. "They have consented to speak on their visit and their perception on the opportunities in Sri Lanka," he said. Senanayake said that this meeting was also to revive the activities of the Business Council of Sri Lanka-Australia which will be a useful forum that can be utilised for promotion of business between Sri Lanka and Australia for mutual benefit." |
