Sri Lanka ICT sector business linkage tour to Scandinavian countries The Sri Lanka Export Development Board, in collaboration with FINPRO, Embassy of Sri Lanka - Sweden, Consulate General of Sri Lanka - Norway, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, is organizing an ICT business linkage tour to Scandinavian countries from October 2 - 15. These organizations are working with government institutions, business support organizations, software associations and chambers in the Scandinavian region to set up business meetings and forums. EDB is also planning to carry out a market survey on the ICT industry of the Scandinavian countries for the benefit of the Sri Lankan ICT industry in general. Delegation also plans to meet Sri Lankan Non-Residents and expatriates in the region. The objectives of Sri Lankan companies, participating in the business linkage tour to Scandinavian countries vary from identifying clients for outsourcing, application development onsite or off-shore software development projects, R& D work, strategic alliances including joint ventures to search for IT consulting work and e-Government skills. These areas could be elaborated as follows; Sri Lankan IT companies are looking for outsourcing requirements in search Engine optimisation and promotion, communications applications, off-shore Web Portal & content management, CRM applications, Business process automation, Web based personal evaluation systems, e-commerce applications, R&D, telecom companies interested in SMS/EMS development, marketing companies that use IT as a strategic tool in their activity, adventure / leisure sector, companies with off-site workforce which may use SMS for communication, companies which require interfacing / extensions to MS exchange services, airline companies, logistic sector companies, telecom, finance/insurance, government agencies & software houses, or any other institutions that have software outsourcing opportunities, suiting to local capabilities and expertise. Sri Lankan ICT companies also explore possibilities in business opportunities including collaborations in the Scandinavian countries especially in the telco segment i.e. telecom billing system products, mobile applications and internet solutions, data entry/ data transformation, design & multimedia projects, garment industry automation and sectors such as education, entertainment/tourism and healthcare as well. Sri Lankan ICT companies are looking for opportunities in the Scandinavian region in the area of IT consulting work. They will also look for partnerships with the companies in the region who have e-Government skill to carry out IT consultancy in Sri Lanka. |
