Light Infantry overall champions

Sri Lanka Light Infantry Sports Club with 153 points won the Athletic Championship at National Sports Festival of the disabled 2003. They were followed by Gajaba Regiment Sports Club which collected a total of 107 points. Meanwhile the Command Regiment were placed third with 88 points. Sri Lanka Light Infantry also won the overall championship at the Sports Festival when they totalled 386 points.

In the overall championships too Gajaba and Commando Sports Club were placed second and third respectively with 230 and 159 points. In the wheelchair event Sri Lanka Light Infantry's K. S. Weerasinghe and S. B. Madurawe were outstanding and were adjudged as best performers in this event. Bandara Menike of the Spinal Injuries Association was declared women's best performer.

W. M. J. Wijesekera, A.G.N. Nayanananda of Gajaba Regiment too came up with brilliant performance to win special awards while Niranjala Ranasinghe (Rehab Lanka) also received honours.

Thirty clubs for disabled from all parts of the country participated at this sports festival which was lavishly sponsored by Dialog GSM while the Sports Ministry too had a share of the sponsorship.
