Susanthika, hubby granted bail

by Siranjani Kumari

Maligakanda Additional Magistrate Ayesha Jayasena yesterday warned sprinter Susanthika Jayasinghe and her husband Dhammika Nandakumara that they should not fail to heed the orders of a Court of a law. The duo failed to appear in Court the previous week.

They were summoned to Court in connection with a motor accident at the Ethulkotte junction on October 2.

Their Counsel Roshan Premaratne said his clients had forgotten to come to the Court on the previous occasion.

Police told Court that a government vehicle was damaged in the accident and that they explained the Court procedure to the couple.

Welikada Police charged Nandakumara with negligent driving, driving a motor vehicle without a valid driver's licence, using an unregistered vehicle, failing to prevent an accident and leaving the scene of an accident without reporting it to the police.

Nandakumara was granted bail and told to appear in Court on December 2 without fail.
