by Sarath Malalasekera

Interior Ministry Secretary M.N. Junaid will oversee the affairs of the Police Department until a new IGP is appointed.

So far, an IGP or Acting IGP has not been appointed, as such an appointment will have to wait until President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga returns to the country today, October 15.

IGP T.E. Anandarajah retired from the Police Force on October 13, after serving the Force for over 33 years.

The next most Senior DIGs are Chandra Fernando, Gamini Randeni, Indra de Silva and Jayatissa Herath.
