Transport Exhibition 2003 to boost industry

The Transport 2003 Exhibition organised by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Sri Lanka, in association with the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Civil Aviation will be held at BMICH from October 23 to 25. The event will also coincide with the National Transport Day. Design Events (Pvt) Ltd., will operate as the event manager of this exhibition. This exhibition is the only transportation exhibition in South Asia region.

The Exhibition will also assemble all the avenues of the transport sector to a common platform, be it Land, Air or Sea. the Exhibition and Conference will be of immense benefit to all transport organisations and for providers of support services to the transport industry.

The buyers and the sellers in the transport industry will also get an opportunity to meet each other, thus participate in the growth of a vital sector in the country. Transport 2003, gives the opportunity to discover significant new products and best services while learning about the latest multi-model transport ideas, and experience the latest developments in the transport sector from the experts in the industry.

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Sri Lanka will organise a Transport Conference under the theme of "Linking South Asia to The Global Logistics Chain" while the Ministry of Transport in Sri Lanka will organise the National Transport Day activities to go hand-in-hand with the exhibition. Special competitions will be held under the categories of - Good Driver Contest, Selection of Best Garge, Selection of Good Driver Training School, Selection of Best Traffic Police Officer.

Transport Awards will be awarded on recognised performance in areas of - Best Company in Transport Business, Best Transport Research Project and Best Innovation in Transport. 'Union Assurance', 'Sri Lanka Ports Authority' and 'David Pieris Motor Company Limited' are the main sponsors for the event, while the 'Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation' and the 'Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited' are the media sponsors. The 'Indian Oil Company' also joins hands with the exhibition as a co-sponsor.

The organisers are optimistic that they would get an encouraging response from the general public as well as the companies involved in the sector.

"As the Exhibition will open new avenues for the transport related companies, such companies are sure to grab this opportunity and, harvest maximum benefit from the wide exposure they would be given", a spokesman for the organizers expressed.
