MBSL and customers in win-win situation MD/CEO of the Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka Sunil Wijesinha said that the bank was conscious of creating a win-win situation by serving customers in a manner that would be equally rewarding and beneficial to the bank and its customers. He was addressing the awards ceremony of the Bank's recently introduced 'Paymasters' Reward Scheme' where three monthly winners are offered prizes of Rs. 20,000/-, Rs. 12,500 and Rs.10,000. Nine customers who were punctual in the payment of their lease rentals won cash prizes at the recent presentation for June, July and August 2003. Wijesinha said that as the pioneer Merchant Bank in Sri Lanka, MBSL was proud to introduce this scheme and encourage more customers to pay their rentals by the due date. "I'm also happy to say that nearly 80% of our customers pay back on time". Senior Manager Leasing Lakshman Kaluarachchi, identified the Western Province as having the largest concentration of leases with vehicle leases taking top billing. He said that the Bank was one of the pioneers of leasing in Sri Lanka. Since its first lease to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation in 1983, MBSL had since written over 15,000 leases. Terrence Van Sanden, Recoveries Manager said that the bank's comparatively 'soft' approach, when clients experienced financial setbacks, has led to it being 'customer-friendly'. Millennium Park to be renamed 'Excel World' Millennium Park, the redeveloped Colombo leisure and entertainment complex will be relaunched as "Excel World" from December 1. The complex's new management Excel Global Holdings (Pvt) Ltd., said extensive refurbishment of the T. B. Jayah Mawatha (Darley Road) property combined with the ongoing installation of exciting new virtual reality and electronic games that are a first for this country, promise an all-new family experience to visitors. An attraction will be the state-of-the-art laser game 'Laser Tag' from Lazer Runner of Canada, a futuristic game in which combatants don fibre-optic battle jackets and fire laser guns that have a range of up to 50 feet and 'Ground Zero' a new computer game centre, the company said. The Food Court has been completely renovated and renamed Avenue. BOI Agricultural Projects Meeting The Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka hosted a meeting of Agricultural entrepreneurs and authorities recently at its Colombo offices. The meeting was in sync with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's vision to promote the Agricultural industry and the export of its products. The meeting was attended by the Chairman/Director-General BOI, Arjunna Mahendran and officials from the Agriculture Task Force, Second Perennial Crop Development Project and agricultural entrepreneurs. SLIM certification ceremony 2003 The Certification Ceremony of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) will be held on Saturday, November 29 at 1.30 p.m. at the BMICH. Prof. K. U. Kamalgoda, Managing Director, State Pharmaceuticals and President, SLIM will be the chief guest. At the certification ceremony over two hundred marketing students who have achieved their initial step towards their career will receive their certificates. This includes 225 finalists who completed the Preliminary Certificate in Marketing (PCM) of Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing and twenty-seven students for Preliminary Certificate in Business English, Certificate in Professional Selling and Foundation Certificate in Marketing (Sinhala). SLIM has been providing marketing education. Over the years SLIM has produced over 1,000 marketing professionals. The SLIM Business School conducts a variety of academic and practical courses and coaching programs to suit different individuals and organisational needs. Record sales for Premier Pacific Shopping Mall Premier pacific Pinnacle, Sri Lanka's first super luxury residential and shopping complex has received a record of 50% of confirmed reservations of shop units within a month of launch, the developers, Premier Pacific International (Pvt) Ltd., said. The Shopping Complex, at Duplication Road, Colombo 3, consists of ground and four floors with 95 shop units, including food-court outlets on the 4th floor. "A special feature of the complex is the demarcation of shop units according to product category.
