Ten soldiers drown

Ten soldiers engaged in a routine training exercise were drowned yesterday in Muhamalai, Army sources told the Daily News.

A top ranking Army official said the soldiers were on a cross-country exercise through a flooded area in Muhamalai.

The area was flooded due to heavy rains in the past few days.

This is the highest military causality since the Government and the LTTE reached a ceasefire agreement in February 2002.
