Stray grenade kills 
three brothers

Three young brothers playing in a garden died on Monday when a stray grenade exploded in Irigeoya, Habarana, police said.Police found two more unexploded grenades.The sobbing father H. A. Vijaya Bandara (above) said the children were playing in the neighbouring garden when he heard the bomb explosion.“I was making concrete blocks while the children were playing in the neighbouring garden. Suddenly I heard a blast,” Bandara, a brick maker said. The victims’ mother is in Lebanon.The dead are H.A. Ashoka Bandara, 11, H.A. Nishan Sanjaya Bandara, 10 (extreme left), H.A. Anushka Sanjaya Bandara, 3 (extreme right).The eldest, Ashoka Bandara had sat the Year Five scholarship examination at Moragaha Wewa Maha Vidyalaya held last week. Pictures by Avinash Bandara
