SriLankan Airlines netballers excel in Thailand The SriLankan Airlines netball team won two matches out of three during their one week tour of Thailand to mark King Bhumibal Adulyadej's birthday. In the first match played in Pattaya, they beat an Invitation Team including three national players from Pattaya by 18 points to 14. In the second game played in Chonburi SriLankan Airlines scored a hard fought 40-36 win mainly due to the individual brilliance of Melanie Devadason who despite nursing on injury played a great game. In the third match played in Pattaya, the SriLankan Airlines went down fighting 19-24 to an Invitation Team from Pattaya. The netball co-ordinator of SriLankan Airlines Hyacinth Kuruppu said that a Thailand team will make a reciprocal visit to Sri Lanka. The SriLankan Airlines team was accompanied on the tour by Italian Gabriala Mery, a student volunteer of AGSEP. |
