Business in brief Indices drop The Colombo Bourse indices dropped yesterday with the All Share Price Index decreasing to 1,076.2 points, down by 18 points and the Milanka price index to 1,922 down by 35.6 points the previous day. Turnover for the day was Rs 32.2 million. At the end of trading domestic purchases were Rs 19.1 million and foreign purchases were Rs 12.5 million. Large parcels of SLT, JKH and Asia Capital were traded yesterday. Nestle, Namunukula, Richard Pieris and Chemanex were among the gainers for the day. Crisil to set up independent regional credit rating agency Port-of-Spain, (PTI) Credit Rating Information Services of India Limited (Crisil) has undertaken a feasibility study for the setting up of an independent regional credit rating agency here. Chairman of the proposed Caribbean Information and Credit Rating Agency Limited (CariCRA), Ronald Harford, said that Crisil found that the economic and business environment in the region favoured the establishment of such an agency. Harford said that the agency will be independently operated and will gather financial and other information on corporations, governments and other agencies. CariCRA will be funded by an initial public offering of USD three million shares at a face value of USD one each. |
