War, peace and reconciliation

A disabled soldier ponders as he looks at photographs at the ‘war, peace and reconciliation’ art and photographs exhibition at the Mahaweli Centre, Colombo yesterday. The exhibition which opened on Sunday continues until today. The exhibition has the work of 60 student artists and also displays photographs of the horrors that resulted from using atomic weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Defeat provocateurs - President

Condemning an attack ledby certain extremist and opportunistic groups on a church at Meegoda on Saturday, President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga yesterday ordered IGP Indra de Silva to deploy special police teams to prevent such incidents in the future.

AG to initiate action against Choksy and Paskaralingam

The Attorney General has called for relevant papers from the IGP, in response to a letter by Nihal Amerasekara Attorney-at-Law, to prosecute K.N Choksy and R. Paskaralingam in connection with irregularities and fraud allegedly involved in the construction of Hotel Hilton.
