Construction work on the "Hela Denavi" Diesel Power House, will add 100 megawatts to the national grid. This is now in progress near the 3rd Mile Post along Kurunegala-Puttalam Road at an estimated cost of Rs. 6,000 million rupees. Anticipating difficulties to transport the massive generator to be imported from Finland 145 kilometres over land, the alternative of sea transport will be implemented, to the Mukku-Thoduwawa Fishery Harbour by barges.
