Ceasefire Agreement :

Certain clauses invalid today - PM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe addressing a public rally at Balagolla, Panduwasnuwara yesterday said that certain clauses of the Ceasefire Agreement have become invalid today due to the action of the President in taking over the ministries of defence, interior and mass communications.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Information and Telecommunication and Chairman, Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, Tilak Ranaviraja states that a news item in the media attributed to have been made by Minister Imitiaz Bakeer Markar that the delay in implementing the Calling Party Pay system was due to the taking over of the Mass Communication Ministry by President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga is totally incorrect and misleading.
