Hemas has pledged financial assistance towards the project over two years to upgrade and develop ten government-run pre-schools around the country. The Centres successfully functioning in Gampaha, Kurunegala, Matale, Batticaloa, Polonnaruwa, Ratnapura, Matara and Jaffna have been upgraded to 'Model Resource Centres' in their respective districts. The Jaffna Centre is in the Municipality Complex and was opened by Hemas Group CEO Husein Esufally in the presence of Children's Secretariat Assistant Director Jayantha Peiris, Jaffna Municipal Commissioner M. Ramalingam and a large number of invitees. The Matara Centre was inaugurated at Dharmapala Mawatha as a 'Model Pre School of the District' by Hemas Group Director Imtiaz Esufally. Hemas Corporate Communications Manager Shiromi Masakorala said that the money allocated by the Company for the Jaffna and Matara centres were utilised towards providing learning equipment, upgrading toilet and drinking water facilities, providing safe and pleasant play areas, conducting regular health checks for the children, teacher training programs and awareness campaigns through the media. |
