Ashan and Nilshan excel in Bangalore

The CCC School of Cricket under-16 team put up a fine performance during their recent tour of Bangalore, winning the Hewlett Packard tournament which was organised by the Imtiasz Ahmed Cricket Academy.

The under-16 team had the better of the Jain International Residential School team by six wickets in the final having earlier lost both their preliminary round matches to the same opposition.

The CCC School of Cricket under 14 team which also participated in this tournament did well to reach the semifinals.

In the individual awards Ashan Subasinghe (under 16) and Nilshan Perera (under 14) were selected as the best batsmen of the tournament from each group. Subasinghe scored one century and three fifties while Perera scored a century and one half century. In addition Hasitha Ruwankumara was named man of the final while Chamath Gunaratne, Sashi Danushka and Sujith Ratnayake won special awards.

The award winners in the under 14 tournament are Devinda Fernando, Dilshan Manamperi, Viran Perera, Stanroy Gonsal, Yasitha Bandara and Shyamanaaz Mohamed. The team was coached and managed by Nelson Mendis.
