President stresses commitment to implementation of Ceasefire Agreement President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga yesterday stressed her commitment to the implementation of the Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) between the Government and the LTTE, at a meeting she held with Head of the Sri Lankan Monitoring Mission Maj. Gen. Trond Furuhovde at the President's House yesterday. The meeting was held to discuss matters concerning the maintenance and implementation of the CFA, the Presidential Secretariat said in a press release. The release also said: At the meeting the President also proposed that a committee, comprising the Defence Ministry Secretary, the Service Commanders, a representative of the Peace Secretariat and senior representatives of the SLMM, be formed. The committee will meet on a regular basis to discuss matters relating to the implementation of the CFA. This committee would regularly brief the President and the Prime Minister on all relevant matters. The officials present at today's meeting were the Secretary to the President, W. J. S. Karunaratne, Defence Ministry Secretary, Cyril Herath, and Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Maj. Gen. Lionel Balagalle and Senior Advisor to the President, Mano Tittawella. |
