Sandun hits his third ton for Joes

Sandun Dias made a sparkling century to make his third successive ton for St.Joseph's which also helped his side beat St.Anthony's, Katugastota on first innings in their inter-school cricket match ended at Darley Road yesterday.

Having bowled out the Antonians for 212 on day one, the home team resumed the final day at their overnight total of 32 for one.

The day belonged to Dias who warmed up for next week's big match against Peterites with a superb knock of 114, which included two sixes and 16 boundaries.

St.Anthony's were 69 for 4 at close in their second essay. Off spinner Rajiva Weerasinghe, who bagged 5 for 47 in the Antonian first innings, captured two more to finish with a match bag of 7 for 69.

St.Anthony's; 212 all out (P.Fernando 35, S. Munaz 28, R. Alberket 21, R. Weerasinghe 5 for 47, R. Perera 2 for 31) and 69 for 4 at close (P. Vithanage 27 n.o, H.M. Rikas 20, R. Weerasinghe 2 for 22).

St. Joseph's: 228 for7 decl. (Sandun Dias 114, R. Vedachalan 46, Shenal warnakula 22 n.o, Tharindu Ariyawansa 13, Sameera Weerabahu 2 for 23).
