SLFP front-liner Mangala Samaraweera was one of the key movers behind the formation of the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA), the political union of the country's main opposition parties - the PA and the JVP. With the gumption to speak his mind, and act according to his conscience, the flamboyant politician has earned many admirers for the coherence between his thoughts and deeds.
