Foreign Minister Tyrone Fernando will inaugurate the reconstruction of three villages affected by last year's floods from today to Sunday. The villages are Kahaduwa in the Bentara-Elpitiya electorate, Pitabeddera- Dankoluwa in the Deniyaya electorate, and Imagirigama in the Horana electorate, the Foreign Ministry said yesterday. Rs. 120 lakhs will be spent on the three projects. The new villages will be called Vides Mitugama (Foreign Friendship Villages) because the funds have been collected by Sri Lankan embassies abroad from expatriates and well-wishers of Sri Lanka. Similar villages have been inaugurated by the Minister in the Kiriella and Kalawana electorate. The foreign friendship village program has been coordinated by Lal Dharmapriya Gamage, when he was Minister Assisting Foreign Affairs. Ex - MPs, Gayantha Karunatilake, Sagala Ratnayake and P.D. Abeyratne will participate in the ceremonies in their respective electorates. |
