The leadership of the Ceylon Bank Employees Association, which represents the employees of nine state banks and five private banks at a meeting held recently decided to support the United People's Freedom Alliance at the forthcoming General Election, as disclosed at the Association's press conference held at People's Bank Training Institution, Colombo, yesterday.

At this press conference it was revealed that the Association as the strongest of the Bank Trade Unions, wrote to all the political parties after the nominations to inform the Association their stand with regard to the Government's policy of privatizing state banks and that of all the political parties, only the PA and the JVP responded by saying that state banks will not be privatized under their rule.
