East West maintains unbeaten record Debutants, East West Marketing continued their winning streak by registering back-to-back wins for the second successive weekend in the Singer - MCA Premeir League. With 4 wins under their belt, East West Marketing is now the only unbeaten team in the tournament. Last Saturday, East West Marketing scored a hard fought 18 runs win over Janashakthi and the next day they romped home easy winners over Smapath Bank by 6 wickets with over 28 overs to spare. The East West Marketing - Janashakthi clash was full of fluctuating fortunes, down 45 for 4, East West was rescued by a 75 runs 5th wicket stand by Sajith Fernando (65) and Malintha Warnapura (32). Muthumudalige Pushapkumara (55 not out) coming down at No. 8, played a captains knock to see East West finish with a respectacle total of 227 for 9. Openers, Niemsh Perera (90) and D.K. Ranaweera (25) with a stand of 125 runs put Janashakthi in an unseeingly unbeatable position. But after their exist, with the exception of veteran, Chandika Haturusinghe (42), the rest of the Janashakthi batsmen could not cope with the bowling of Dhammika Prasad (4 for 34) and Niroshan Bandaratillake (2 for 39), all out for 209 in the 47th over. League Champions, Seylan Bank also engaged in a double-header, went down fighting by 5 runs to Sampath Bank on the same day, but scored a face saving, last ball win over John Keells by 2 wickets, the following day. John Keells got 216 in 47.5 overs, centurion, Ruwin Peiris top scoring with a valiant 75 runs in 89 balls with 8 boundaries, Kaushalya Weeraratne (6 for 38) returned the best figures for the weekend for Seylan. Seylan's last ball win was fashioned by a solid opening stand of 110 runs by T. Paranawithana (25) and Nuwan Shiroman (82), aided by an expensive 47th over by R. Dissanayake which gave away 17 runs. Rock solid innings by M. Perera (62) Gayan Wijekoon (53 not out) helped E-Wis to register their first win beating John Keells by 6 wickets. At NCC: Samapth Bank beat Seylan Bank by 5 runs Sampath Bank 259 for 8 in 50 overs (S. Jayawardene 25, D. Perera 42, C. Perera 30, Jeevan Mendis 47, J. Siriwardene 53, Charith Sylvester 26 not out, K. Weeraratne 2 for 42). Seylan Bank 254 for 8 in 50 overs (T. Paranavithana 78, L. Fernando 40, K. Weeraratne 25, S. Perera 33, Rangana Herath 3 for 44). At Moors: East West Marketing beat Janashakthi by 18 runs East West Marketing 227 for 9 in 50 overs (Sajith Fernando 65, M. Warnapura 32, M. Pushapkumara 5 not out, Ranga Dias 2 for 40, M. Maduwantha 2 for 33, C. Hathurusinghe 2 for 32, L. Dias 2 for 22). Janashakthi 209 in 46.1 overs (D.K. Ranaweera 25, Nimesh Perera 90, C.
