Tie up with giants in car manufacturing AMW launches Renault in Sri Lanka By Sudarshana Perera Associated Motorways (Pvt.) Ltd AMW in Colombo has tied up with Renault Group a global giant in car manufacturing to market and service "Renault" cars in Sri Lanka. Nissan-Renault Group through its Lankan Partner "Associated Motorways Ltd" is also to aggressively market and service its "Nissan"and "Renault" cars and vehicles with its latest come-outs in Sri Lanka. This was made known at a press conference held to launch New Nissan Cefiro and New Elegant Renault Laguna and Megane. Nissan and Renault have come to a strategic alliance to market their vehicles in the world. Deputy Chairman/Managing Director of AMW, Tilak de Zoysa said that new range of vehicles will appeal vehicle enthusiasts in Sri Lanka as new options and technology accommodated with Nissan Cefiro and Renault Laguna and Megane will provide comfortable interior and hassle free driving. Senior Manager, Vehicle Group of Nissan Atsushi Kudo said that new Nissan Cefiro with a prestigious and advanced sedan combines the best of technology and high comfort. Kudo said that the interior fittings of this luxury sedan raise the perception of "touch and feel" quality. The engine is a newly-developed 2.3 litre V6 VQ 23 De which is designed to deliver board band prowess and efficiency. He said that economical 4-cylinder in line QR 20 DE engine also balances fuel economy with substantial power and torque. Nicolas Fernandez of International Operation Division, Renault said that "Megane" with 115 BHP engine has been voted the European Car of the year 2003 while "Laguna" with a 136 BHP Engine boosting the Renualt range for its elegance. Fernandez said that both vehicles were awarded the maximum 5-star rating for safety by Euro NCAP. General Manager, Sales and Marketing of AMW, Shivantha De Zoysa, Kikuku Anami of Sales Dept, Asian Oceania, Nissan, Director, General Manager, Motor Division of AMW, Ranjan De Silva also spoke. |
