JHU MP who voted with Government beaten up and abducted by monks

There was high drama on the eve of the election of a Deputy Speaker of Parliament today when Jathika Hela Urumaya MP Ven.Kathaluwe Rathanasara Thera who voted with the Government during the election of the Speaker on April 22 was mercilessly beaten up dragged out of his temple and abducted by a gang of six monks at Rawathawatta, Moratuwa last night.

Police sources told the " Daily News" that the Ven. Kathaluwe Rathanasara Thera while being assaulted by the gang of monks clad in yellow robes had been bundled into a chocolate coloured "Caravan" vehicle which sped off into the night.

The incident had occurred at 8.15 pm. The Ven. Kathaluwe Rathanasara Thera Thera is an incumbent at the Sambuddha Viharaya, Rawathawatta , Moratuwa.

Police appealed to the public to help find the abducted monk .

Any person having information should contact the nearest Police Station.
