Rupavahini, SLBC and ITN jointly sponsor pioneer project: Audio visual entertainment at public places The Information and Media Ministry will provide audio visual entertainment at crowded public places, like main bus stands and railway stations to popularise broadcasting and television among the public. On the initiative of Information and Media Minister Reginald Cooray, the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and the Independent Television Network are jointly sponsoring this as a pioneer project. The program's first stage launched under the theme Gamane Giman Nivana Madhya Sathkaaraya (media sponsorship to ease tension of travelling) will be inaugurated at the Colombo Fort Railway Station today at 5.30 p.m. with the opening of a giant television screen and broadcasting audio facilities under Minister Cooray's patronage. Transport Minister Felix Perera, Deputy Ministers Lasantha Alagiyawanna and Mahipala Herath Media Secretary W.B.Ganegala and heads of media institutions will also participate. The next step in this islandwide program will be opened at Polgahawela and Kurunegala railway statioins on June 1. Under the second stage, these facilities will be installed at railway stations at Maradana, Kalutara, Gampaha and Anuradhapura. |
