'Radio Sport' from today 'Radio Sport' an innovative and contemporary sports programme dedicated exclusively to sports in all three languages will be launched on June 29 (today) daily from 5.00 pm to 7.30 pm through the City FM service of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. The update of sporting events will be presented by sports broadcasters of the calibre of Roshan Abeysinghe, Kelum Srimal, Haritha Perera, Donald Abeysundera, Palitha Perera, Premasara Epasinghe and Sunil Abeywardena with the panel of sports casters in the SLBC, in a format that has been specially designed to be in keeping with the contemporary style of sports broadcasting. At a press briefing held at the SLBC Auditorium with regard to the launching of the programme Bandula Saman Wathuregama, the well-known cricket commentator and the Director of Sports at the SLBC said that the time has come to break the monotonous broadcasting of sports programmes and make it more lively to the listeners. The Deputy Director General (Programmes) Anura Fonseka said that prominence will not be given only for cricket, but to bring the north and the south together. "We need to support the village lads and lasses who are extremely talented. The necessary confidence should be given to the sportsmen and we are hoping to resume sports programmes in all stations like Ruhuna and Kandy too." |
