Mixed fortunes for Namal in Japan

Namal Gunasekera of Lake House Sports Club experienced mixed fortunes at the World Veterans table tennis championships worked off in Yokohama, Japan recently.

The former national champion reached the quarterfinals of the consolation event after being knocked out from the main draw of the women's singles over 40 tournament. Namal Gunasekera's participation at this tournament was sponsored by Butterfly Sports and SriLankan Airlines.

She was thankful to Lalith Priyantha who is the agent for Butterfly products in Sri Lanka and Hideki Chiba the Manager Overseas.

Namal Gunasekera represented Sri Lanka in several international events local and abroad for over 25 years and won the national singles title on many occasions and the doubles title on 17 occasions.
