Dilantha Malagamuwa a flying start The atmosphere was fast and exciting both on and off the track at Bira Race Circuit, Thailand, for round 4 and 5 of the Porsche Infineon Carrera Cup Asia. The number nineteen vehicle driven by IWS Holdings sponsored Dilantha Malagamuwa was placed ninth in the qualifying round clocking 01:05.0228. Dilantha had a flying start which he jumped from ninth qualifying position to fifth from the start of the race for eight laps he was continuing on the fifth position, unfortunately his car was hit by Darryl O' Young's car from the left side Dilantha went out of the track and with severe damage to the left front wing as well as the bumper and the radiator. The car was repaired within about three hours and ready for the fifth round racing which he was placed on the fifteenth position at the starting grid as he was unable to complete the round 4 due to accident. Even in round 5 he had a very good start where he jumped from the fifteenth position to the eighth position and he completed three laps and had to abandon the race due to an engine showing warning light for the low coolant level. In both rounds Dilantha started off well but had a unfortunate ends where he missed out any points. After a nail biting race in Round 4 and 5 Rizal Ramli came on top followed by Charles Kwan and Matthew Marsh. The Round 6 and 7 will be held on 14th and 15th of August 2004 at Beijing, China. |
